Low Ki, World Warrior Article by K.I.D.

Low-Ki, the World Warrior also known as Senshi (TNA) and Kaval (WWE), is a professional wrestler from Brooklyn, New York. Rumor is that he got his name from a verse of R&B group Blackstreet’s #1 Billboard song “No Diggity.” First off, Low-Ki is a cool ass wrestling name. Only maybe Young Dick Tiger and God Shammgod can compete with having cooler names. He doesn’t look like the prototypical, jacked up, HGH- infused wrestlers of today. As a matter of fact, he kind of looks like Krillin from the cartoon/anime Dragon Ball Z. Low-Ki has held several championships from various promotions including, but not limited to, being IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion (1x), NWA World Tag Team Champion (3x), TNA X-Division Champion (2x), and ROH Champion (1x). Most recently he was the winner of WWE NXT. Unfortunately, he parted ways with WWE 2010, leaving wrestling fans like myself wondering about how awesome Kaval versus Rey Mysterio would have been. Low-Ki’s wrestling style is very unorthodox to say the least. He combines cat-like agility with powerful strikes, and brutal submission holds. He finishes off his opponents with a move known as the “Warrior’s Way,” a move guaranteed to make you say “ohhh…” (think Enter the Dragon Bruce Lee stepping on your chest). I’ve also seen him finish off opponents with a variation of Hayabusa’s Phoenix Splash, and a move he calls the Ki Krusher (some crazy ass Fisherman’s Suplex /Michinoku Driver type shit). His buzz on the independent circuit has been huge for about over a decade, however I was introduced to Low Ki through TNA Wrestling. At one point TNA was showcasing some of the best talent the wrestling business had to offer. Names like Abyss, Ken Shamrock, Elix Skipper, AJ Styles, Jerry Lynn, Jimmy Rave, and Matt Sydal. Of all wrestlers who have competed in TNA’s dastardly six sided ring, Low-Ki stuck out to me the most. He wasn’t a big hulking monster like Abyss; he wasn’t as technical as the “Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe, but man could he wrestle! Arm bars, blazing fast kicks, head butts, and oh shit! Did he just do a reverse Dragon Sleeper!? Why is he rubbing his head like that? Is his brain itching? This dude is crazy! Low-Ki has wrestled some of the best wrestlers in the world, and he’s wrestled with the best. Whether he’s teaming with the Rottweilers, Triple X, or Shinsuke Nakamura’s RISE stable, or facing off against the likes of Homicide, Austin Aries, Jushin “Thunder” Liger, and KENTA, Low Ki always puts on a bloody good show. Thanks to youtube, I have seen almost all of his matches. You can find more information about Low-Ki on his official website at www.low-ki.com
